The Guyana Public Service Union will be in attendance at the annual Caribbean Public Service Association (CPSA) Conference being held in Jamaica from July 24 - 29, 2011. The forum serves to unite public servants across the Caribbean Region.

Theme: “CPSA: Championing Public Services for All”

The 2011 CPSA conference is crucial to synchronising the programme of activities of CARICOM Public Service Unions to deal with the challenges confronting Public Officers throughout the Caribbean Region; for example the astronomical increase in the price of petroleum products and food, HIV/AIDS, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Issues, Immigration (race and ethnicity issues), crime and corruption, poverty, etc. These issues demand more regular and extensive attention at the present time. It also gives the partcipant an opportunity to share experiences and exchange views on strategies that would enhance their capacity to respond to the challenges locally.

The GPSU delegation was lead by Bro. Patrick M. Yarde, President and three other Executive Council. As is customary some members of branches met their own expenses and attended the Conference as part Union's delegation.

The business sessions of Conference were presided over by Bro. Wayne Jones in his capacity as President of CPSA.

The Conference was held over a five (5) day period. The first two (2) days Monday and Tuesday workshops were held for CPSA men, women and young workers. On Wednesday and Friday the Business sessions were held, while on Thursday, a Fun Day was held at Dunns River Falls, Ocho Rios.
