The Guyana Public Service Union held its 19th Biennial Delegates' Conference under the theme "Working together, Fighting as one for Sustainable Workers' Rights," during the period September 28-30, 2011. The Opening Ceremony was held at the National Cultural Centre on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011 from 17:00 hrs. The Hon. Prime Minister Samuel Hinds declared the Conference Open, the Feature Address was delivered by Dr. Nanda Gopaul, Permanent Secretary, Office of the President and the customary GPSU Presidential Address was well delivered by Bro. Patrick M. Yarde. The Business Sessions were held at the Union's Headquarters on Thursday and Friday. The sessions included several Panel Discussions and Presentations which featured speakers such as Dr. Steve Surujbally, Chairman GECOM, Mr. Andrew Hinks, Head of Sociology Univeristy of Guyana, Mr. Ramesh Persaud CEO IPED, Mrs. Cathy Hughes Manager Videomega Productions, Dr. Ivor Mitchell Distinguished Professor of Marketing Clark Atlantic University, Georgia and Mr. Dia Christian, Senior Project Officer, CSME Caricom. The Panel Discussions aroused much dialogue among the delegates and panellist. The discussions and issues were so intense that Conference was adjourned to be completed at a date to be decided by the Executive Council. A Karaoke and Lime culminated the 19th Biennial Delegates' Conference 2011.
